For this month’s local spotlight, we’ve decided to feature the beautiful Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA). Fortunately for us locals, BIMA is one of the first buildings to greet visitors from around the world as they step off the ferry onto our beautiful island.
BIMA’s mission is to inspire curiosity, wonder and understanding by connecting people with the contemporary art and craft of the Puget Sound region — and that’s exactly what they do.
Life seems to be moving faster these days. Because of this sense of urgency to always be in a hurry, sometimes we miss out on connecting with those around us and our communities. For this reason, we’ve decided to highlight the Eagle Harbor Book Co. for our Local Spotlight. They are one of the many fabulous Bainbridge businesses that make our island unique.
Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty has compiled the 2018/2019 Market Report, which profiles 8 key counties and 31 communities in Western Washington. The report also includes a 2018 retrospective, an in-depth look at Seattle’s performance on the S&P CoreLogic / Case-Shiller Home Price Index, and a 2019 Look Ahead. Below we have compiled trends in Kitsap County and Bainbridge Island.
We are officially into the spring season. Soon the kiddos will be breaking out their rain gear and other clothes that have been in the closet for some time, and chances are there have been some growth spurts. In the spirit of new springtime swag—and the eco-friendly focus that Earth Day gives us each April—we are highlighting one of our favorite local shops for new and used children’s clothing: Lollipops Children’s Boutique! A Bainbridge Island staple for fifteen years, Lollipops is an upscale boutique that offers children’s clothes and other locally made goods.
Spring is nearly here and as we prepare for some slightly sunnier days and the sound of the birds chirping, we decided to spotlight one of our favorite places for breakfast or brunch on Bainbridge Island: Good Egg! Since opening in 2017 in the corner spot at Winslow Green, Good Egg has made its way into the hearts—and bellies—of locals.
The month of romance is here and as we prepare to impress our sweethearts with treats and thoughtful gifts, we thought it would be a great time to invite you into our favorite Island florist: Flowering Around! This shop has been adorning our community with beauty since 1987 by collaborating with local artists to create truly unique floral offerings.
We are well on our way into 2019 and that means we are in for a long stretch of winter—short days, cold air, and perhaps even a few snowflakes. Though we may not be spending as much time outdoors as we’d like, there’s still plenty to do on the Island. This month, we are highlighting a place that brings fun every day of the year: KiDiMu!
The holidays are right around the corner and as we all work to finish our shopping and find the perfect gifts, we thought it’d be a perfect time to spotlight a really sweet store here on the Island: Dana’s Show House. We just adore this shop and love that you can find everything there, from furniture and accessories to greeting cards, housewares, and beyond, which means shopping for others—or yourself—is a breeze!
In the spirit of the chilly season—and in anticipation of the coming holidays—we want to highlight one of our favorite stores on Bainbridge Island: Churchmouse Yarns & Teas. This lovely shop is stocked with luxurious yarns, comforting teas, and everything you need to get your knit on!
Autumn is in the air and with the holidays just around the corner, we decided to dedicate our Local Spotlight to one of our favorite and delectable destinations: Blackbird Bakery!
